A year
ago Jarmo Lindholm EVP Atria Russia expected growth and estimated Atria Russia’s
2013 net sales to be €135 million, see for instance Interfax. The true net sales were just under €122
million, there was no increase but decrease instead. Current H1 suggests only some €100 million
net sales this year and profitability does not show any clear improvement. Atria
Russia’s net sales are currently clearly below 10% of the whole Group’s net
sales.
However, top management’s statements constantly and
absolutely clearly reveal that the Group will stay in Russia for a long time
but anyone can see just as clearly that Atria Russia will never be a major part
of the Group. In fact, shrinking Atria Russia
is no longer of much interest.
Therefore, we can safely forget the whole Atria Russia for the entire
year. We will forget the tiny Atria
Baltic as well.
Instead we will focus this year on
Atria Finland and Atria Scandinavia, about 65% and about 26% of the whole Group’s
net sales respectively. That may be
boring but studying the other two marketing areas would be pointless. Let's see how we succeed.
We will look at
Atria again later but on Friday,
September 12th, we are going to look at HKScan’s businesses. Although we’ll forget Atria Russia and Atria
Baltic for the whole year, we are not going to forget Russian and Estonian songs.
