HKScan all out for poultry

HKScan has launched halal chicken meat products in U.K., Hong Kong market opens for HKScan Estonia’s chilled and frozen poultry and in Denmark HKScan invests organic chicken.  All in all, HKScan goes all out for poultry.

HKScan’s halal poultry products in U.K. aim at important domestic consumer group. The products are quick to prepare and they are evidently targeted specifically at young consumers. In fact they form their own product category and they are marketed under their own brand Aafiyah, and they have their own website as well.

HKScan Estonia’s head Teet Soorm comments on the company’s Hong Kong export certification and says that the quality of their products is now recognized and the company is aiming to offer also highly processed poultry products to H.K.

In Denmark, demand for HKScan’s organic chicken rose last year more than 30% and now the company has to increase its production significantly.  The company believes that when times get better, the demand for organic products is continuing to intensify even further.  Although most of the production goes to domestic market, HKScan is launching its Danish organic chicken in Sweden as well.

No doubt, HKScan’s chicks are flying.

This rooster, however, quits blogging.  Thank you.

Atria believes in cold cuts - organic and premium now in one package

As Atria Group has announced, they are acquiring the business operations of Aalbæk Specialiteter A/S, founded in 1920, Denmark’s largest and one of Europe’s largest manufacturers of high-quality organic meat products, cold cuts, patés and bacon, net sales about Eur 10 million. The transaction includes the Aalbæk’s brand, all business agreements, a charcuterie and a small production plant in Farre.

As Danish media tells, most of the production will be transferred to Atria Denmark’s production plant in Horsens. Namely Aalbæk’s production plant in Billund was destroyed in a fire in January 2015.  In fact, the media tells, without the fire trade would hardly have realized at all.  During winter and spring Aalbæk’s products already have been produced in Atria’s plant.  Peter Aalbæk, the former owner, will continue to develop new concepts in Farre.

It is apparent that Atria Group believes a lot in cold cuts and toppings and obviously to premium brands as well.  How about organic products?  The Group has not so far been an advocate of organic food.  Perhaps they see now, that producing of organic toppings and marketing them under the premium brand for wealthy folks is profitable.  In the country of Smørrebrød.

On Friday, May 22nd we are going to look at HKScan’s businesses.  Hans Christian Andersen:  Not fairy tales this time.
